Heritage Open Days
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September

Our theme this year is 'Untimely Ends'

A walk and talk will take place on Saturday 12th September starting at 2pm from the Chapel, to include some of the graves of people who died following accidents in the years between 1873 when the cemetery opened and 1927.

We have a new booklet to include these people who died before today's standards of Health and Safety.

On Sunday 13th September between 2 and 4pm there will be a small exhibition and a self guided walk to accompany our new publication

Tuesday 15th September at 12 noon
Battle of Britain Day

The anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated by a short ceremony which will take place at the RAF memorial. Wreaths will be placed at the memorial which is just outside the twin chapels. All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be available after the event

Tuesday 29th September at 10am
Fungus Walk

Our annual and ever popular fungus walk led by mycologist Martin Allison will take place on 29th September. Details on how to book will be available nearer the date.

The Friends Chapel will be open for refreshments afterwards.

Catholic Blessing of Graves
Date to be confirmed

The blessing of Catholic graves takes place on the Sunday closest to All Souls' Day in November. The clergy and members of the congregation of St Augustine's Church gather for a brief service before graves are blessed.

8th November
Remembrance Day

Starting at the Garden of Remembrance, wreaths will be placed at all four war memorials within the cemetery. The Last Post will be played by buglers from the TS Brilliant Sea Cadet Corps Band, followed by a 2 minute silence and the Reveille.

The event will end near the Friends Chapel where you can relax with a cup of tea and cake.
