On Sunday 6th November 2022 a simple ceremony took place to bless the place where fifteen people who were originally buried in unmarked public graves in the cemetery during the Victorian era have been re-interred. Some of them died at the Pembury Workhouse. The area of the cemetery where they were buried was later found to be unsuitable for further burials and fell into disuse. Two years ago their remains were reinterred in the main part of the cemetery. The Reverend Claire Allwood, Vicar of St. Mark's Church, officiated at a short service and blessed the new memorial which marks the graves of these people.
